The Dept. of Homeland Security has issued a recommendation that all ambulances have to be locked at all times. This product not only meets this requirement but also adds convenience and organization to the fleet.
How it works: A key-less entry system is added to the vehicles that will lock all doors(if equipped) automatically after 30 seconds of remote unlocking OR if a door is opened an re-shut regardless if the key is in the ignition or engine is running. Can also be remotely unlocked if truck battery is completely dead(optional). All personnel carries a remote as part of their uniform (attached to radio or belt). All remotes and receivers have same code (unique to each company). All remotes work all ambulances so the keys get left in the ambulances at all times running or not. As personnel need equipment from the ambulance they push unlock on their remote, take the equipment, kick door closed and 30 seconds later the ambulance re-secures itself. Any personnel can access any ambulance in their fleet. If personnel exits the ambulance it will automatically re-secure itself in 30 seconds. Fire & Rescue officials should also be given remotes for access to equipment.
